Levente,

I'd also want to point out that we are looking to extend the existing
kmodtool to do a few things that it doesn't do yet (that only makes sense
for RHEL-based distributions):

  - we want to allow a config-file (or inline SPEC directives) to influence
kmodtool without the need to fork and change it (eg. to add Requires,
    sub-packages, etc...)

  - we want it to be able to package multiple kernel modules (for different
kABI versions) for all the main RHEL releases (8.el5, 53.el5, 92.el5,
    128.el5)

  - somehow we also want to provide RHEL4 kernel modules, if possible,
    lacking the current kABI infrastructure.

Apart from that we also identified a bug in Red Hat's weak-modules script
that we like to see fixed in Red Hat. We discussed this already with
Red Hat's Jon Masters but haven't followed-up on this yet :-/

We could use help from the community with everything we are currently
lacking and I would prefer that we focus on enabling users to help us,
rather than trying to do everything ourselves.
