Hi Nikolay,
Apologies for the delay... I've finally got around to looking at your
sis190 package based on the sis source code. One slight problem I see is
version numbering. My original package was v1.3, based on the version of
the source backported from the Linux kernel. The version of the sis
source code is 1.00.00 which creates an obvious problem within the repo
in shipping an "older" version.
Our policy is to use the original source version where possible, and if
no version information is available then to start at 0.00-1.el5.elrepo.
So what to do in this case? Nikolay reports above that my original
backported v1.3 driver is buggy causing a kernel panic, so I'm assuming
it's not actually in use. Thus I would propose we just scrap it and
replace with v1.00.00 despite that being an "older" version number.
Assuming no one has any objections, or better solutions, I'll build the
package now and get it shipped to elrepo-testing. If anyone can test it
(Nikolay??) then we'll push it out to the main repo and deprecate v1.3.
Note v1.3 in also in elrepo-testing so the new "older" version won't get
picked up by yum from the repo, you'll have to download and manually
install with rpm.
Regards,
Phil
