Pre-release kmod packages for el5 and el6 are available here:

Folks can test just the kmod package (at this stage) with he ATI
installer to make sure the kernel module works. Should just be a case of
installing the kmod and rebooting to pick up the new fglrx.ko driver.

running 'modinfo fglrx' should establish the driver is correctly loaded
- you're looking for something like:

filename: /lib/modules/<kernel_version>/weak-updates/fglrx/fglrx.ko

or in /extras/fglrx/fglrx.ko depending on which kernel is booted.

If you test, please report:

rpm -qa kernel\*
find /lib/modules -name fglrx.ko

The kmod kernel module should survive any kernel updates.

The el6 packages are highly unlikely to work on rhel6beta releases as
the kABI is broken between these releases and the GA release.

If for any reason the worst happens and the kmod causes a kernel panic
and you can't boot the system (it can happen as the kmod is linked
against *all* kernels so can leave the system unbootable), simply boot
from any rescue/liveCD and delete /etc/depmod.d/kmod-fglrx.conf and
reboot the system. That should disable the kmod driver and revert to the
ATI installer-provided module.

Thanks for testing!
