[elrepo-devel] trouble installing kernel.org kernel

Hello,

I have a box that has 2 BCM5906M ethernet ports. When I do
an ifconfig of either of the ports the kernel panics.
I have tested the current Centos kernel, 2.6.35.10-ml and 2.6.36-2-ml
all with the same results.
So I decided to build the latest kernel.org kernel from linus' git tree.
I built it on F14 because it is a q6600 system - target is a Via C7 at 1ghz.

I copied the config file from 2.6.36-ml and did a make oldconfig
and then a make -j4 rpm.
When I try to do the install I get the following about rpmlib(...)
messages that I have
not been able to find anything definitive on the web after googling for
over an hour.
Any help would be appreciated.

Linux Z1010.netwolves.com 2.6.36-2.el5.elrepo #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 10
