[elrepo-devel] Announcements and the ELRepo-devel Mailing List

As you know, the ELRepo Project does not have a "subscribe with
read-only access" mailing list dedicated solely for announcements.

We (the ELRepo Admin Team) wanted to keep things as simple as possible
and so decided upon a general users' m/l/
(http://lists.elrepo.org/mailman/listinfo/elrepo, archive
http://lists.elrepo.org/pipermail/elrepo/) for general use & the
elrepo-devel m/l
(http://lists.elrepo.org/mailman/listinfo/elrepo-devel, archive
http://lists.elrepo.org/pipermail/elrepo-devel/) for the discussion of
the development of (1) new packages (2) the ELRepo project itself.

Up until recently, all announcements have been made to both of the
mailing lists simultaneously. The administration team have recently
had a private discussion and the outcome was a decision to no longer
post announcements to the elrepo-devel m/l. The logic for that
decision was that we assume any subscriber to the elrepo-devel m/l
would also, ipso facto, be a subscriber to the elrepo (general) m/l --
thus receiving any announcement in duplicate.

Although we have already made our decision, we are aware of our
slogan: "For the community, by the community." Hence this message, to
subscribers to the elrepo-devel mailing list, to ask for your comments
and / or opinions.

Thank you,

The ELRepo Team.
