Hi Michael,
The compat-wireless package is located on elrepo's github account here:
https://github.com/elrepo/packages
https://github.com/elrepo/packages/tree/master/compat-wireless-kmod
I would suggest you create a github account (if you don't already have
one), fork our repository and maintain the package in your fork
submitting pull requests when an update is required.
We can then push your updates to the build system for build, signing and
release.
We have a main repository and also a testing repo. Generally it is the
responsibility of the package maintainer to decide where a package
should be released and when it should be promoted from testing to the
main repo (if it goes to testing). Generally we don't require much
external feedback/testing (we get very little feedback anyway unless
something is broken) otherwise most things would never get released out
of testing. Generally, if you have no reason not to believe the package
should work as expected then feel free to release straight to the main repo.
For compat-wireless, I would now consider the current package fit for
release (other than it's built from RC sources rather than the final
release) - it's been tested by a couple folks and generally shown to
work as expected (any issues are with the drivers themselves rather than
our packaging). So I would have no issue dropping in the release source
tarball and pushing the resulting package straight to the main repo.
Generally, if you can perform a local build and test first, then great.
But that is your call as package maintainer - the rest of us are happy
to discuss/advise/support if you want other opinions.
We can assign the package to you in the bug tracker system at which
point will get automatic email notifications of all new bugs filed
against the package.
There is a page for the package on the Wiki here:
http://elrepo.org/tiki/kmod-compat-wireless
We should (??) be able to give you access to that page to maintain any
relevant documentation relating to the package.
You are welcome (encouraged) to send an email to the main elrepo mailing
list to announce each new release (once built, signed and pushed) and
lead any discussions there. Please look at the many existing
announcement mails for a general format to use. TBH that list sees very
little traffic.
I can't think of anything else atm other than to say welcome to elrepo!
Regards,
Phil
