Oops, sorry, I did 'make clean' but forgot that I'd need to redo
'./configure' with the new sources.
On the first try after redoing './configure', I got the same message
about needing to do 'make oldconfig && make prepare', but this time I
was able to do that successfully.
Now, the error I get from 'make' is:
