Announcing the release of new packages, kmod-flashcache and
flashcache-utils, into the EL6 elrepo repository:

http://elrepo.org/tiki/kmod-flashcache
http://elrepo.org/tiki/flashcache-utils

These packages have been provided as a result of the following RFE:

http://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=228

The kmod-flashcache package provides the flashcache kernel module.
Flashcache is a write back block cache Linux kernel module and was
built primarily as a block cache for InnoDB but is general purpose and
can be used by other applications as well. Flashcache supports
writeback, writethrough and writearound caching modes. This package is
kABI compatible with all kernels from EL6.2 (kernel-2.6.32-220.el6).

It is built to depend upon the specific ABI provided by a range of
releases of the same variant of the Linux kernel and not on any one
specific build.

The flashcache-utils package contains utility packages for flashcache.
It includes flashcache_create, flashcache_load and flashcache_destroy.
It is expected that the majority of users can use these utilities
instead of dmsetup.

These packages are available only for x86_64 (see "Known issues" below).

More details on flashcache can be found here:

https://github.com/facebook/flashcache

The following files are currently syncing to the mirrors:

x86_64:
kmod-flashcache-0.0-2.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm
flashcache-utils-0.0-2.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm

src:
flashcache-kmod-0.0-2.el6.elrepo.src.rpm
flashcache-utils-0.0-2.el6.elrepo.src.rpm

Known issues

- flashcache only builds and works on x86_64.
- Use of flashcache with drbd + kvm has some issue.

Thank you,

The ELRepo Team.
