Okay. But first some extra info:

This system was originally installed as "run level 3" (or "init 3" if
you will). It is called "server" on the list of install options. I then
installed my kmod-nvidia and Xfce 4.8 drivers manually.

When this started happening, which was after my upgrade to 6.2 from 6.1,
I had no video at all, including no nouveau drivers as (not) reported by
the "rpm -qa \*nouveau\*" command. I had to use my Xfce Live CD to go
and and download the nouveau drivers the hard way from pbone.net.

So, I do not believe the nouveau drivers have anything to do with this
problem. I could be wrong now.

These are the missing nouveau drivers I had to manually install:

libudev-147-2.40.el6.i686.rpm
libXv-1.0.5-1.el6.i686.rpm
libXv-1.0.5-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
libXvMC-1.0.4-8.1.el6.i686.rpm
libXvMC-1.0.4-8.1.el6.x86_64.rpm
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.16-13.20110719gitde9d1ba.el6.i686.rpm
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.16-13.20110719gitde9d1ba.el6.x86_64.rpm

And, I reinstalled my nVidia drivers with the following command:

rpm -ivh kmod-nvidia-295.20-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm
nvidia-x11-drv-295.20-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm
nvidia-x11-drv-32bit-295.20-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm

Okay, now back to your question. I do not have an /etc/xorg.conf
file:

# find /etc -maxdepth 1 -iname x\*
/etc/xinetd.conf
/etc/X11
/etc/xml
/etc/xinetd.d
/etc/xdg
/etc/xscreensaver

The closest thing I have to it is:

#find /etc -iname \*xorg.conf\*
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d

Which is an empty directory. Also, my /etc directory has nothing
even starting with the letter "x" or "X".

I did find a curious file that might be what you are looking for
called /etc/X11/XF86Config:

---------------------------------------------------------------
