Hi John,
I'm Phil, the packager for the NVIDIA packages. Apologies for not
replying sooner but I've been away on holiday.
I'm unable to replicate your issue. Having just returned from holiday, I
ran a yum update which installed the latest 6.4 kernel together with
kmod-nvidia-310.44 and the system rebooted fine.
As Trevor advises above, I would troubleshoot on the hanging disk. Boot
to run level 3, or if that is not possible try booting from the rescue
CD/DVD. First I would try uninstalling the nvidia packages and then
reinstalling them.
Information that may help us/you troubleshoot if required:
uname -a
rpm -qa | grep nvidia
find /lib/modules -name nvidia.ko
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
cat /boot/grub/grub.conf
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Anyway, I can confirm there is no underlying compatibility issue with
the latest 6.4 kernel and the latest elrepo packages - they are working
fine here on my test system admittedly albeit with different hardware.
Hope that helps.
Phil
