[elrepo] Update to kmod-nvidia-331.20-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64 breaks 3D support (SOLVED)

No, I have updated the kmod-nvidia package at least a couple times on 
this same hardware with no change in desktop effects.  I have had the 
broken symlink issue on each update but with different symptoms.  On 
previous occasions the GUI fails to come up at all as a result of 
failure to load libglx.so.  The latest update did not kill the GUI but 
did apparently kill desktop effects.
