The kernel firewire subsystem replaced ieee1394 in EL6.

I have a blog about use of ieee1394 under EL5 (
http://blog.toracat.org/2008/12/getting-kino-to-work-on-centos-5/ ).
But that was about 'kino' and it worked fine under EL6 using the
kernel firewire subsystem. I had a brief look at coriander. If the
obsoleted ieee1394 is absolutely required by coriander, you'd
seriously want to consider using EL5. EL5 is supported until 2017.
