[elrepo] Announcement: EL5 Updated elrepo-release package

Announcing the release of an updated elrepo-release package for el5.

This updated package is currently syncing to the mirrors.

This package was modified to improve yum performance when elrepo.org is
temporarily offline. Previously when elrepo.org was offline, yum was
unable to obtain a valid URL for any ELRepo mirror. After encountering a
timeout error for the mirrorlist file(s), yum was unable to process
ELRepo package installation or updating requests.

This problem was addressed by expanding the list of baseurls supplied
in /etc/yum.repos.d/elrepo.repo to include four additional mirror sites
around the world. Now when elrepo.org goes offline, yum will encounter a
short, nonfatal timeout and will continue to function properly.

Most outages are only for a few minutes and the extended baseurl list
will be sufficient to overcome those outages. To address the potential
of an extended outage, a new subdomain (i.e., mirrors.elrepo.org) was
introduced in elrepo.repo for retrieving the mirrorlist files. In the
future during an extended outage, ELRepo will be able to redirect
mirrorlist file requests to other servers as needed.

Please note that, if you have previously modified the
/etc/yum.repos.d/elrepo.repo file, the new file will be installed as
elrepo.repo.rpmnew. We recommend users to incorporate changes into
their current configuration or to use the new configuration file.

You can apply this update by:

yum --enablerepo=elrepo update elrepo-release
