You should point out to your client that 2.6.18-164 is a 5.4 kernel and
has been unsupported since the release of 5.5 in early *2010*. They have
all the security vulnerabilities from that point onwards plus all of the
bugs that have been fixed since. They really really need to update.
Would they run a copy of Windows XP that hadn't been patched since 2009??
