I am pretty sure there is an error here. That's the stock libglx.so 
getting loaded instead of the the one provided by my package ( 
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/fglrx/libglx.so). And I see the same 
library getting loaded on Dominic's system

Can you please do a test and move 
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so out of the way ( rename, 
move, whatever ) ? And also, can you please verify which library (Xorg's 
or ATI's) gets loaded  on your other systems which worked OK ?
