Your system is apparently configured to build a mouse driver using dkms.
What surprises me is that your system is configured to use dkms at all.
There is nothing "wrong" with using dkms, but the preferred/modern
method for supplying a kernel module is via a kmod.
I wonder whether dkms built or is trying to build something for wl and
that is why you are getting an odd modprobe result.
Please list the output of:
# ls /var/lib/dkms/
dkms_dbversion
# dkms status
# find /usr/src -type f -name dkms.conf
Those are results from a system with freshly installed dkms.
I have not used dkms in at least 7 years and am rusty on its usage, so
others reading this tread should suggest anything else to check.
Steve
PS I have been unavailable for a few days due to the snow storm and its
aftermath in the Mid-Atlantic states/USA. Locally, we had over 24"/60cm
of snow to clean up. It has been a little busy here.
