Yes, this works properly when giving the parameter "preliminary_hw_support=1“ while loading the module i915. This can get automated by creating a conf file within /etc/modprobe.conf.d with the content „options i915 preliminary_hw_support=1“. After that, don’t forget to re-build the existent initramfs with "dracut --force“, so on the next reboot the i915 graphics support for Kaby Lake is switched on by default, and xorg’s intel driver cares for proper graphics.
