I’m sorry for the confusion caused by my wording. The patch I appended was just the diff for compiling the latest kernel’s nct6775.c code against the el7 kernel. This is really already part of elrepo’s code, as in the end required for the rpm build process.

The actual extension for adding the new chip model is part of the latest kernel sources:

So to say, I described the other way round to first copy the original kernel code and then apply the tiny patch to make it el7 compatible again.
