Given the complexities and number of modules in kmod-video4linux, it's 
not going to work for everyone, and I think you fall in that "doesn't 
work for me" category.

You could try building V4L from source, but I note in the latest source 
VIDEO_CX88 requires at least kernel 2.6.22, although you may be able to 
get older snapshots to build.
