but, I try this module in CentOS 6.2 with latest kernel - it not work:
# uname -a

6 21:21:22 GMT 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
# yum install kmod-nvidia-96xx
# grep 96xx /var/log/yum.log
Mar 25 12:59:39 Installed: kmod-nvidia-96xx-96.43.20-1.el6.elrepo.i686
Mar 25 12:59:44 Installed: nvidia-x11-drv-96xx-96.43.20-1.el6.elrepo.i686
#reboot
after reboot:
/var/log/Xorg.0.log:

try load this kernel module manually from command line:
# modprobe nvidia
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia

message in /var/log/messages about this:
