but, I try this module in CentOS 6.2 with latest kernel - it not work:

# uname -a
Linux vo080380kav.privat.lutsk.ua 2.6.32-220.7.1.el6.i686 #1 SMP Tue Mar 
6 21:21:22 GMT 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

# yum install kmod-nvidia-96xx

# grep 96xx /var/log/yum.log
Mar 25 12:59:39 Installed: kmod-nvidia-96xx-96.43.20-1.el6.elrepo.i686
Mar 25 12:59:44 Installed: nvidia-x11-drv-96xx-96.43.20-1.el6.elrepo.i686

#reboot

after reboot:

/var/log/Xorg.0.log:

[    55.773] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module!
[    55.773] (EE) NVIDIA(0):  *** Aborting ***

try load this kernel module manually from command line:

# modprobe nvidia
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia 
(/lib/modules/2.6.32-220.7.1.el6.i686/weak-updates/nvidia-96xx/nvidia.ko): 
Accessing a corrupted shared library

message in /var/log/messages about this:

kernel: Verify ELF error [sec 33 note 12] (assertion 286)
kernel: Module failed ELF checks

hardware:

# lspci -nn | grep 0300
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation NV18 
[GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x] [10de:0181] (rev a2)
