I think it worked for me somehow in the past, but back then I thought
it's not as solid as VDPAU, and went for NVidia-based solution.
I'll post a report here on my progress this time. :)

Update: what's described above was a hardware issue. It appeared only
when Intel driver was loaded (and affected both Linux and Windows).
I had to replace my motherboard, and now my PC boots up fine without
the 'nomodeset' option.


Now, some other driver loads on startup, but I'm not sure if it's the
right one:

Whenever I play back a video in MythTV, I get a black screen (sound
works fine though)...

Also, mythfrontend is complaining (not sure if this is related):

  OpenGL: Could not determine whether Sync to VBlank is enabled.
