[elrepo] mac802154_hwsim kmod request

Hi All,

I hope I'm not breaking etiket by dumping this request here out of blue,
but just joined this mailing list in the hope of getting help from Elrepo
to make the mac802154_hwsim kernel module available on el7/8 if possible
via backporting?

I have a group of ppl who require this module for their simulation work,
they were able to get it on the latest Ubuntu, but to scale up their
simulation, we need to accommodate their needs now and migrate them away
from their Ubuntu laptop. On the env where we want to put these guys we do
not have/support Ubuntu, only running Centos (preferably 7 at this stage,
but 8 might be possible in near future as well, as soon as the docker
related issues are sorted).

I had a quick look, and this module was introduced in the 4.19 ml kernel (
/drivers/net/ieee802154/mac802154_hwsim.c), but hasn't been backported in
el7/8 so far.

Any chance you guys could look at it and create a kmod for it? Or any other
suggestion you have on how to install this on Centos 7/8 without the need
of compiling a main line kernel manually which could potentially break
other things?
